North Babylon School District hosted a family night for English as a New Language and Dual Language Learners at North Babylon High School on March 26. Students and their families were welcomed to the evening by Gaetano Vaccaro, the district’s director of English as a New Language and World Languages.
To begin the evening, students and their families headed to the cafeteria for crafts, games and even a bit of gardening. The perimeter of the cafeterias was adorned with different artwork and projects created by students.
Parents were theninvited to attend one of the many informational workshops hosted by North Babylon professional and local community-based organizations. Some of the workshops included presentations from the Central American Refugee Center, Catholic Charities Diocese of Rockville Center, the Health and Welfare Council of Long Island and the Long Island Crisis Center.eaHea
To close out the evening, dual language students from Parliament Place Elementary School took to the stage for three performances. The kindergartners danced to “Soy Un Taza” and first and second graders performed to “Carnaval.” The third, fourth and fifth graders ended with “La Bicicleta.”
