Long Island MacArthur Airport today celebrated all eight Breeze Airways’ destinations from Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP) with an inaugural “Feel the Summer Breeze” sendoff for customers flying to Richmond, VA. The airport and airline marked the event with a water curtain salute from the Airport Fire Rescue Team.
“We are delighted to see Breeze Airways grow and provide so many new destinations at Long Island MacArthur Airport. These flights are reasonably priced so local residents can enjoy easy getaways to fun new places. These are eight Seriously Nice destinations, on New York’s Seriously Nice Airline, from New York’s Seriously Nice Airport. The service will also bring visitors to Long Island which helps our local businesses thrive,” said Town of Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter.
Breeze Airways is entering its third year of service this month, and is adding non-stop routes here on Long Island and across the country. To celebrate this milestone, Breeze Airways is also putting many of their routes on sale from New York for June travel with Welcome Summer Fares as low as $44 one way.
The carrier’s focus on flexibility, ease, comfort and affordability, is helping Breeze define a new category of air service – Nice Low-Cost Carrier or NLCC. Throughout the month of May, Breeze will be showcasing its tagline, Seriously Nice. ™
“Since Breeze started flying two years ago, we have been serious about igniting positive change within a stagnant, oftentimes unfriendly, industry through our unique combination of low fares, flexible polices, efficient flights and Seriously Nice Team Members and experience,” said David Neeleman, Breeze Airways’ Founder and CEO. “We are going ‘all in’ this May to stake our claim in Nice Low-Cost Carrier or ‘NLCC’ by highlighting all the things that make up this unique model starting with dozens of new flight inaugurals and our lowest fares right ahead of the summer season,” he added.
Breeze initially began serving Charleston, SC and Norfolk, VA non-stop from Long Island MacArthur Airport in February, 2022. In February, 2023, Breeze announced the addition of non-stop flights to Pittsburgh and Richmond, which culminates with today’s inaugural. Additionally, this April, Breeze Airways added non-stop seasonal service to Portland, ME, and year-round service to Raleigh-Durham, both beginning in June. The carrier also offers same-plane BreezeThru flights to Jacksonville and New Orleans to further widen local travel options.
“It’s inspiring to see Breeze Airways growing so quickly here at Long Island MacArthur Airport. Throughout the month of May, expect to notice a lot of excitement building on Long Island for our newest air carrier,” said Airport Commissioner Shelley LaRose-Arken. “These are Seriously Nice destinations and our customers will really enjoy feeling the ‘Summer Breeze’ all over Long Island,” she added.
Support for the airport within the Long Island community is strong and unified as MacArthur Airport seeks to provide more air travel options. “Airlines tell us that they take notice of a supportive traveling public, of visionary businesses, and solid community leadership, as they make decisions on where to place their valuable assets such as aircraft and flight crews,” Carpenter said. “We are actively communicating our support for new destinations to our air carrier partners. Today, we celebrate that effort with Breeze Airways, and we could not be more grateful that Breeze recognizes our excellent location and the potential for successful growth at ISP,” she added.
