In celebration of Black History Month, English as a New Language students at Copiague Middle School students reviewed the impact of Ruby Bridges and created a timeline of her life in Ms. Hertel’s class. In Mr. Dobbin’s class, students learned about the life and legacy of Harriet Tubman. Students worked in small groups to sort through events in Ms. Tubman’s life and placed them on a tree map timeline. Each group was assigned a specific time in her life and was tasked with finding the events that occurred during that time. At the end of the lesson, the timeline was placed together to make one large tree map that outlined the significant events in Harriet Tubman’s life.
