Excitement permeated the air as 129 incoming sixth grade students entered James Wilson Young Middle School on Aug. 24 for the school’s annual Locker Day and Walk Through.
Students and their parents met in the courtyard for a bagel breakfast and then attended a brief welcome assembly with Principal John Andruszkiewicz, who described the tone of the year as one of “optimism.”
The students were then divided into blue and gold teams and were given a tour of the building by student members of the Superintendent’s Council.
The sixth graders also tried opening their assigned lockers for the first time, helping them feel prepared for the first day of school on Aug. 31.
