Assemblyman Michael Durso (Massapequa Park), in partnership with Nassau County Consumer Affairs, held a free Scam Prevention Seminar at The Oaks at Broadlawn in Massapequa. The presentation focused on how seniors can protect themselves from becoming victims of identity theft, mail fraud, phone and internet scams.
“Seniors are one of the most vulnerable targets for identity theft and scams”, said Durso. Scammers target seniors because they are able to easily manipulate them to gain their trust and confuse them into believing that they are speaking to a government agency like the IRS or donating to a worthy cause. Scam prevention presentations provide seniors with tools they need to avoid becoming victims of scams.”
