West Islip High School has named three students as the Academic Leaders for the Class of 2023. They are Emily Bahm, Sophia Bahm and Eugene Ditaranto.
Emily Bahm is a member of the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, National Science Honor Society, National Art Society, World Language Honor Society and has been on the honor roll/Principal’s List. She is active in clubs such as the West Islip High School Thirst Project, West Islip HEARTT Club, and WICA Dance Program.
She will be attending SUNY Geneseo with a major in economics.
Sophia Bahm is also a member of the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, National Science Honor Society, World Language Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society and has been on the honor roll/Principal’s List. She is active in clubs such as the West Islip High School, West Islip HEARTT Club and WICA Dance Program. She will be attending SUNY Geneseo to study biochemistry and pre-med.
Eugene Ditaranto is a member of National Honor Society, National Science Honor Society, National English Honor Society and National World Language Honor Society. He participates in the Environmental Club, Science Olympiads and Barnstormers. He created a peer tutoring program where high school students tutor middle school students for community service hours. He will be attending Texas Christian University majoring in history and pre-law.
