A group of East Islip High School music students and teacher Giovanna Sciandra recently traveled to New York City to see the New York Philharmonic perform at Lincoln Center. The day started with an amazing performance by the Philharmonic with violinist and 2023–24 Artist-in-Residence Hilary Hahn, performing Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No. 1, Bartok’s Concerto for Orchestra and Coleridge-Taylor’s Ballade. After the concert, the East Islip students enjoyed lunch at the restaurant Iguana.
“We had a great day experiencing some of New York’s top musicians,” Sciandra said.
