Boo-tiful Boards Bring Halloween Spirit To East Islip High School

East Islip High School teachers and their student teams recently participated in the inaugural Halloween bulletin board decorating contest, organized by student government. The 10 registered teams — each consisting of four students and one teacher — had four days to prepare their bulletin boards before student government members evaluated and selected their favorites, which proved to be a challenging task.

The entries showcased a range of themes from spooky to educational, highlighting the participants’ creativity and teamwork. Ultimately, Team Apicella was awarded first place for their inventive “Scary Spider” bulletin board. Close behind, Team Ackley received second place for their imaginative “Stranger Things Demogorgon” display. Honorable mentions were awarded to Teams Dawson and Iwanejko for their artistic contributions.

“I would like to thank the teachers who participated and supported this new tradition here at East Islip High School,” student government adviser Kate Boucher said. “Supporting new activities organized by student government is important and greatly appreciated. It was a fun event for everyone involved, and the bulletin boards looked fantastic throughout October.
