“We are encouraging ALL members of our community to join us, together with our Jewish families, neighbors, and friends, as we celebrate the Festival of Lights. This ceremony is always such a memorable one, thanks to Rabbi Mendel Teldon, who never fails to inspire unity, hope, and love for thy neighbor with his wisdom and humor. Those who attend each year often share how meaningful the experience truly is.” – Smithtown Supervisor Ed Wehrheim
This free event is open to all Smithtown residents, and serves as a wonderful opportunity to come together and embrace the spirit of community during the holiday season.
The Menorah Lighting Ceremony celebrates the miracle of Chanukah, symbolizing resilience, unity, and the triumph of light over darkness. Rabbi Mendel Teldon of Chabad Mid Suffolk will share the history of the Chanukah miracle, in addition to delivering a prayer before the community prior to lighting the Menorah at Town Hall. The Town will be serving Latkes and Donuts, along with a gelt drop (Chocolate Golden Coins) courtesy of our local first responders.
