East Islip’s Ruth C. Kinney Elementary School celebrated Earth Day on April 19 with an outdoor walk. Afterwards, the entire school gathered to hear the fifth-grade chorus sing a special Earth Day song led by music teacher Danielle Post. Additionally, RCK recognized third grader Dylan Meyer, fourth grader Annabella Toala, and fifth graders Michael Castelletti and Dennis Geduldig as the winners of the school’s Earth Day poster contest, a fundraiser to help support the local Seatuck National Wildlife Refuge.
“At RCK, we recognize the importance of creating an awareness and appreciation of our world and the need to be proactive in protecting all living things, Principal Janet Jones said. “This event is one small way to help our students gain a deeper appreciation of local wildlife conservation.”
