The Nassau BOCES Board of Education has appointed Thomas M. McGrath to the position of Executive Director of the Department of Human Resources (HR), effective December 20, 2021. He will oversee all aspects of employee recruitment, retention and management for the Agency.

Mr. McGrath brings a diverse background, as well as dedicated years of experience at all levels and areas of education and human resources, to his new role. He was also an executive board member for the Suffolk County High School Principals Association for the past 10 years.

Mr. McGrath has held leadership roles in special education and career and technical education, labor unit positions, various committees and task forces. He has intimate knowledge of HR operations, as well as experience with negotiations processes, electronic on-boarding systems, and recruitment and retention initiatives.

“At Nassau BOCES, we highly value our employees,” said Dr. Robert R. Dillon, Nassau BOCES District Superintendent. “We look to Tom to ensure we recruit and retain the best talent for our mission and goals.”

“I’m excited to join Nassau BOCES and look forward to continuing to enhance the reputation of the human resources department. I believe that my years of experience and service has provided me with a deep understanding of trends in education, and how they are affecting our educational institutions on Long Island,” says Mr. McGrath. “I look forward to working closely with employees on key initiatives, and building a positive rapport with union leaders, labor counsel and component school district administrators.”

“Mr. McGrath brings a wealth of tangible experience to this role,” said Susan Bergtraum, Nassau BOCES Board President. “We know he will do an exceptional job.”
