After multiple tornadoes ravaged areas of Kentucky, Tennessee, Illinois, Arkansas and Missouri, Supervisor Don Clavin and the entire Hempstead Town Board are coming together to provide relief supplies to people in need. Supervisor Clavin – along with Senior Councilwoman Dorothy Goosby, Councilman and County Executive-Elect Bruce Blakeman, Councilman Anthony D’Esposito, Councilman Dennis Dunne, Sr., Councilman Tom Muscarella, Councilman Chris Carini, Town Clerk Kate Murray and Receiver of Taxes Jeanine Driscoll – announced that the town will be putting out collection boxes at multiple town facilities, and called on residents to help provide clothing, blankets, food, water and other essential supplies.
“My heart goes out to all of the families who lost loved ones this past weekend,” stated Supervisor Clavin. “The Town of Hempstead has always stepped up to help people in need across our nation and throughout the world. Today, we are calling on town residents to help provide essential supplies to people who lost so much during these devastating storms.”
Starting Wednesday, December 15th, the town will also be setting up collection boxes at Hempstead Town Hall and other municipal buildings located throughout our area. Accepted items that can be donated include bottled water, laundry detergent, dish soap, hand sanitizer, diapers, baby wipes, paper towels, first aid kits, baby formula, garbage bags, towels, blankets, pillows, work gloves, safety glasses and extension cords.
Through December 31st, collection boxes will be stationed at Hempstead Town Hall (1 Washington Street, Hempstead), Old Town Hall (350 Front Street, Hempstead), the Hempstead Town Receiver of Taxes Office (200 North Franklin Street, Hempstead) and Echo Park (399 Nassau Blvd., West Hempstead).
“We are confident that Town of Hempstead residents will come through for their fellow Americans during this difficult time,” concluded Supervisor Clavin.
