Padruig Douglas is celebrating following a win in the Suffolk individual gold golf championship. The Northport High School junior shot a 5-over-par 77 to earn the win, and will represent Suffolk County at the New York State championship this June.
“Padruig’s win was a great accomplishment. I am proud of his determination and impressed by his hard work,” said his coach and NHS math teacher Brian Sundberg. “He was an absolute pleasure to coach, and I look forward to him being with me another year,” he added.
“After getting to play some practice rounds with Padruig last week, I was impressed on how good of a golfer he was and impressed by his ability to get out of trouble on the golf course,” said Coach Sundberg.
As an all-league, all conference and all-county golfer, Padruig will continue to work on his skills and have the opportunity to be an all-state player.
