Nassau County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D – Glen Cove) joined Loggia Glen Cove No. 1016 Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America on Wednesday, July 6 for a special celebration honoring the Lodge’s latest Sons of Italy scholarship recipients. Honorees included: Giovanna Villella (the Lorenzo Martone Perpetual Scholarship); Elisia Gallo (Loggia Glen Cove 1016 Scholarship in memory of Lisa Carrera); Isabella Visintainer, Katherine Matozza, Vincent Palazzo and Antonio Palazzo (Loggia Glen Cove 1016 Dante Award for Excellence in Italian); and Kathryn Ditrano (Loggia Glen Cove Community Service Award).
“Each of these deserving students have demonstrated impressive levels of academic excellence and civic commitment that I know will serve them well in their pursuit of higher education,” Legislator DeRiggi-Whitton said. “I thank Order Sons and Daughters of Italy Loggia Glen Cove No. 1016 for continuing to support a wonderful scholarship program that celebrates the accomplishments of young people in our community and amplifies OSIA’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness about Italian heritage, traditions and culture.”
