Students in all three elementary buildings in the Merrick Union Free School District have been enjoying using zSpace technology.
This augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) software immerses students in an interactive learning experience.
These experiential learning opportunities enhances the social studies, science and math curriculum while increasing engagement in content area learning.
While lessons are designed for upper elementary students in grades 4-6, the district is planning to expand this technology to grade 3 this year as well.
“Initially, we utilized the 3D software in science,” explained Dr. Salvatore Dossena, assistant superintendent for student services & technology. “Further lessons incorporated both science and social studies. There is now content in the areas of math and ELA that the schools will begin utilizing.”
