West Islip High School student Michael Washington has been granted a full tuition academic scholarship to the University of Miami, along with the prestigious Isaac Bashevis Singer Scholarship. Due to his dedication, resilience, and academic achievements, Washington has also been accepted into the Foote Fellows Honors Program, which will allow him to pursue a double major in aerospace engineering and physics. The full academic scholarship at the University of Miami is worth $260,000. Washington was invited to the University of Miami’s Premier Scholars and Cane for a Day Program. During this program, he was informed that out of more than 56,000 applicants in 2024, he represents only 0.025% of the accepted students.
