On May 29, the Village of Islandia celebrated the grand reopening of The Islandia Senior Center. Visitors were treated to refreshments and had the opportunity to speak to Allan M. Dorman, the village mayor, and Denise Schrage, Village Parks and Recreation Commissioner, and learn about upcoming events at the facility.
In March 2020, the Senior Center was closed down due to the pandemic. It reopened in July 2020, but only operated during limited hours. The Islandia Senior Center will now be fully open Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The Senior Center gives the village’s older residents the opportunity to socialize with one another, watch movies, play games, and enjoy other activities.
