View Hosts 33rd Annual Bass Tournament

VIEW is hosting their 33rd Annual Bass Tournament on Election Day, Tuesday, November 8. Official start time is 7 a.m. and all fish must be weighed in by 3 p.m. at VIEW. A buffet dinner and open bar will be served to participants from 4 to 7 p.m. The winner will have their name engraved on a trophy permanently displayed at VIEW. Entrance fee is $100 per angler and must be paid on or before Monday, November 7 at the captain’s meeting. $10 of every entry fee will be divided and donated to the Send-a-Kid-Fishing Fund and Challenger Anglers. The first 200 anglers to register will receive a free hat and koozie with entrance fee. Tournament shirts will be available for purchase for $40 with $5 of shirt sales proceeds going directly to Send-a-Kid-Fishing Fund. Boats can leave from their home base and registration will take place on Monday, November 7 from 5 to 8 p.m. at VIEW. TOURNAMENT RULES:

All fish, striped bass only, must be between 28- 35-inches and must be caught on rod and reel with live bait, lures or a combination. Boats may not leave their homeport before 6:30 a.m. No fishing lines in the water from midnight on Monday, November 7 until 7 a.m. on Tuesday, November 8; committee boats will be at check points. Fishing is restricted to the Great South Bay and Fire Island Inlet, east to Moriches Inlet and west to Tobay Beach. Boat numbers will be provided and must be displayed. No fishing alone. Fish that are caught should be kept on ice; they cannot be held in live wells. All fish must be weighed in at VIEW by 3 p.m. on Tuesday. Fish must be brought in on the boat it was caught on. Any boat breaking down or needing assistance to the scales will be disqualified. Any boat assisting another vessel in distress will be allowed to weigh in late (maximum 2 hours). All decisions by the Weighmaster are final. All anglers must present wristbands to attend awards dinner.
