Veterans of Foreign Wars New York Visit Pal-O-Mine Equestrian and Present a “Still Serving” Certificate

Pal-O-Mine Equestrian, Inc. (www.pal-o-mine.org, Islandia, NY), a private, not for profit organization providing a comprehensive therapeutic equine program using horses to facilitate growth, learning and healing for children and adults with disabilities, recently hosted representatives from the Veterans of Foreign Wars New York at its Islandia, NY facilities. The representatives were on hand to acknowledge the valuable work Pal-O-Mine does on behalf of veterans and active service men and women and to recognize the organization with its “Still Serving” Certificate. While there, the VFW representatives gained a firsthand look at the breadth of Pal-O-Mine’s 13-acre campus which includes both an indoor and outdoor arena, horse stables, organic farm, classrooms, and vocational training center. They learned about the various equine therapy programs Pal-O-Mine provides to veterans who may be suffering from post-traumatic stress syndrome (PTSD) or having difficulty transitioning from the military to civilian life.

Clinical evidence and decades of human experience demonstrate the ability horses have in helping people work through emotional barriers. Through its EAGALA Designated Military Program, Pal-O-Mine’s Eagala licensed and certified professionals provide their specialized training and experience to assist military service members and their families with equine-assisted psychotherapy and learning. Pal-O-Mine offers programs to active-duty service members and veterans who have served in the Vietnam and Gulf wars, and Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation New Dawn, and Operation Enduring Freedom. The organization also offers complimentary programs for first responders.
