The Shore Road School Student Council in the Bellmore School District has worked collaboratively to pursue several charitable causes this holiday season.
The Student Council is made up of two representatives from each fifth and sixth grade class at Shore Road. The Shining Star Leaders meet once a month to brainstorm charitable causes to support. This year, with the help of advisers Casey Amato, Christina Colletti, Lauren McHale and Samantha Seith, students led highly successful efforts to help others. They organized a Thanksgiving food drive for members of the Bellmore community, contributed to a coat drive run by Assemblyman David McDonough, and continued their support of the annual holiday toy drive for the John Thiessen Children’s Foundation.
