For the third consecutive year in a row, Islip High School athletes gathered on Aug. 21 for “Islip Rising,” an early morning kick-off to the fall sports season.
At sunrise, senior Lucas Bohr dazzled the crowd of students, coaches, administrators, board of education and community members with his electric guitar rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner.” After a brief inspirational message by Athletic Director John Sparacio, the athletes participated in their first official practice of the year.
“It was a sensational sunrise, and a heartwarming kick-off to the school year and fall season,” Principal Dr. Lara Gonzalez said. “A special thanks to our Islip High School Booster Club for their support and the scrumptious donuts provided for the attendees.”
