The Public Libraries of Suffolk County announce the 2026 Suffolk County Public Libraries Summer Tour. This exciting program invites residents and visitors of all ages to embark on a journey of discovery and exploration through the beautiful public libraries and towns in Suffolk County.
“This is the fourth year of the Suffolk County Public Libraries Summer Tour, and it is better than ever. I hope patrons enjoy spending their summer days unearthing prehistoric creatures while exploring our dino-mite libraries and all they have to offer,” said Derek Ivie, the Youth Services Coordinator of the Suffolk Cooperative Library System.
Starting from July 1st until August 31st, any Suffolk County resident can pick up their Suffolk Summer Library Tour booklet from their local Suffolk County public library. The booklet has a list of all the participating libraries, including which are open on Sundays and which have cafes. As patrons make their way to each library, they find that library’s prehistoric creature, present their booklet at the designated Summer Stamp Station, and a friendly library staff member stamps it for them. Participants can also collect each library’s exclusive prehistoric creature card.
The tour lasts from July 1st to August 31st; participants can start any time during that time.
When patrons hit 5, 15, and 25 stamps in their booklets, they can be entered into raffles. The prizes include Barnes & Noble gift cards. Those who visit 25 libraries will receive a commemorative themed patch.
