In recognition of exceptional commitment to service, mentorship and the advancement of inclusivity throughout the community, Suffolk County Legislator Tom Donnelly (D-Deer Park) has selected Ethan Klenofsky of North Babylon as his 2025 Champion of Diversity.
All 18 legislative district selections were honored at the April 8 Legislature General Meeting in Riverhead. At the session, Legislator Donnelly presented Mr. Klenofsky with a Proclamation and a framed photo profile of his achievements. During the program, Legislator Donnelly also presented Mr. Klenofsky with commendations from County Executive Ed Romaine, Suffolk District Attorney Ray Tierney and Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer.
In 2022, Mr. Klenofsky earned a prestigious U.S. Congressional Award, an honor given to young Americans between the ages of 14 and 24 that involves extensive voluntary public service, personal development, physical fitness and exploration. After receiving this recognition, he volunteered and mentored other youths from across the nation seeking the same award.
His volunteerism continues with countless hours spent at the Spangle Drive Senior Center, Good Samaritan University Hospital and the Gerald J. Ryan Outreach Center. He has earned more than 150 awards for his service, including the Duke of Edinburgh Award and the President’s Volunteer Service Award, in addition to the Congressional Award. He has spoken to municipal boards, Boy Scout troops and civic groups about the importance of volunteerism.
“Ethan Klenofsky’s compassion, leadership and dedication to volunteerism are making a lasting impact,” said Legislator Donnelly. “He is a shining example of how one person’s commitment to giving back can inspire others and result in even more meaningful change. I am proud to honor him as my 2025 Champion of Diversity.”
Resolution 844-2022 established April as “Champions of Diversity Month” in Suffolk County and recognizes individuals who foster unity and demonstrate extraordinary efforts to uplift their communities.
