Suffolk County Honors Mitch Pally

Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker stands with the entirety of the Suffolk County Legislature in recognizing Mitch Pally, for his long commitment to public service, and for his retirement as CEO of the Long Island Builders Institute.

“My legislative colleagues and I are honored to recognize Mitch Pally not only for his work at the Long Island Builders Institute, but also for his record of fiercely advocating for all long island residents, especially on issues relating to transportation, energy, and affordable housing. In addition to government advocacy, he has been instrumental in community associations including local soccer leagues, civic organizations, and public education,” said Legislator Sarah Anker. “His commitment to education is highlighted through both his time serving on his local board of education and his time as a professor in Stony Brook University and Suffolk Community College.”

He also held positions in the New York State Legislature, serving on the Senate Committee on Transportation and the Legislative Commission on Critical Transportation Choices, and later serving as chief counsel. His work includes contributions to the drafting and passage of transportation legislation, such as the nation’s first seatbelt law, and reserved parking spaces for disabled drivers.
