At Idle Hour Elementary School, third grade students in Stephanie Zelinski’s class participated in a lesson about the U.S. Constitution in honor for Constitution Day on Sept. 17.

The students first learned how the government was founded, which led to a history lesson and discussion on the three branches of government and why the Constitution was created. The students also received a copy of the Constitution from the PTA, which was the perfect opportunity for Idle Hour Elementary School students to study its parts: the Preamble, the Articles and the Bill of Rights. Most importantly, the students learned that the Constitution is a living document and how the government can amend it.
