Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC®) New York Metro is hosting “Anthony’s Red Shoe Fund Run” on Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 9 am – 3 pm, to support the construction of its new $34M House at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital (SBCH). Members of the community will lace up their shoes to participate in either a 5K Race or a 1-mile fun run/walk to raise funds for the new Ronald McDonald House, serving the families of sick or injured children. The House is scheduled to open in 2027.
The 60,000-square-foot Ronald McDonald House will provide families with no-cost housing, respite, meals, and hospitality, just across the street from their child’s bedside. It will include 30 private bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms for families, a media center, outdoor playground, interactive playrooms, community kitchens, and more. The Ronald McDonald House staff and volunteers will provide meals for families throughout their stay, as well as fully stocked pantries, a fitness center, meditation room, and laundry facilities. This will be the first Ronald McDonald House located in Suffolk County, and only the second on Long Island.
Runners can register for the race or make a direct donation to support the new Ronald McDonald House online at https://runsignup.com/Race/NY/StonyBrook/AnthonysRedShoeFUNdRun.
The registration fee includes a T-shirt for the first 200 runners and access to the after-event patio party with music, food trucks, and more. Prizes will be awarded to individuals in each age group and team category. “Anthony’s Red Shoe Fund Run” was organized in partnership with Stony Brook University’s School of Health Professionals, Program in Public Health, the Department of Family, Population & Preventive Medicine, Student Affairs, Auxiliary Services Association, and Stony Brook Children’s Hospital.
