Winning Star Leaders at Winthrop Avenue School enjoyed a bright, sunny day on May 7 as they worked together to plant a new tree on the school grounds.
A young Crape Myrtle tree was donated by the PTA and planted with the help of maintenance crew member Brian Gerber. Winning Star Leaders carefully lifted piles of fresh soil to place around the base of the tree, giving it a space of its own to freely grow. The tree is the newest addition among other trees planted by classes in years past. There are plans to further beautify the grounds by adding new greenery.
