Eric Carle’s “The Hungry Caterpillar,” took new meaning as Smithtown High School West students taught sign language to elementary students at Accompsett Elementary School on April 24.
Mr. Brynjar Leifsson’s ASL Levels II and III students read and signed the classic children’s book to second and third graders. With each page they signed, it was something new for the younger students and a reinforcement for the ASL high school students.
The ASL 2 class at High School West, taught by Mr. Leifsson, is a total immersion in sign language, with no words spoken
