The Smithtown High School West and High School East girls basketball teams played against each other on Dec. 7, but the game had a deeper meaning than just the score.
The teams were playing to raise money to fight cancer, and especially to support High School West sophomore, Hannah Waller
Hannah has been battling brain cancer since September when she had surgery to remove a brain tumor.
Hannah’s twin sister, Mallory, addressed the crowd and Hannah before the game, telling her sister, “You are such a warrior. I’m so glad to be alongside you during this fight.”
Many clubs and groups were on hand to help in the fundraising efforts. Approximately $500.00 was raised and will go toward the American Cancer Society.
High School East won the game, 51-43.
