The Nature Club at Shore Road School in the Bellmore Public School District is in full swing for the start of spring, with the group spending time in the sunshine to plant flowers and create personal projects on April 15.
Shining Star Leaders in the Nature Club regularly find environmentally sustaining solutions to recycle materials that would otherwise go to waste. Using empty water bottles that were cut in half, students filled them with soil and flowers to craft makeshift pots. To help further beautify the school playground, the flowers were hung via string on the fence. The Nature Club will keep an eye on their plants as they grow. Additionally, petals were picked off flowers to create colorful sun catchers that were brought home. With their sustainable skills and knowledge, students lead environmentally friendly projects of their own both at home and in the classroom.
