Senator Mario R. Mattera (2nd Senate District) and The Salvation Army of East Northport are partnering for a back-to-school supply drive from now through Monday, August 22nd. Throughout the collection drive, Senator Mattera’s district office, which is located at 180 East Main Street in Smithtown, will serve as a drop off location for supplies.
“Every child in our community deserves to start off the school year with the proper supplies to set them up for success and it is truly our privilege to partner with The Salvation Army to help make sure the kids have what they need. This will also help take some burden off of the parents in our community, who are suffering from sky-high gas prices and inflation, and I thank everyone who is able to donate,” stated Senator Mattera.
The Salvation Army, with the help of many volunteers, will fill backpacks for students and are looking for the following items:
- composition marble notebooks
- plastic pocket folders
- highlighters
- pencil sharpeners
- scissors
- supply boxes
- glue sticks
- markers
- sharpies
- 3-ring loose-leave binders
- post-it notes
- colored pencils
- loose leaf paper
- white out
- back packs for middle and high school aged students
The Salvation Army in East Northport prioritizes having a positive impact on its community through education and service; offering numerous services and events to better our communities financially, educationally, and physically.
