Kindergartners at Deauville Gardens East Elementary School in the Copiague School District are just beginning their science unit on living and nonliving things. After discussing the differences between living and nonliving objects, the students learned about what plants need to grow. They each planted their own sunflower seeds in a small pot, which they will observe over the next few weeks. The kindergartners predicted what the seeds would look like when they sprout and will record their observations in a daily journal.
