Saladino Honors Public Safety Officer From Massapequa As “Employee Of The Month”

Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and Commissioner of Public Safety Justin McCaffrey honored Public Safety Officer Tyler Kelly, of Massapequa, as the Town’s “Employee of the Month” for February. Tyler has a great attitude and his extraordinary efforts ensure that operations in the Department of Public Safety are professionally handled, which was perhaps best illustrated by his recent swift action while on patrol in North Massapequa.

Officer Kelly noticed a girl walking along North Broadway with no shoes and who appeared lost. He instinctively sensed something was wrong and contacted the Nassau County Police Department while remaining in sight of the girl until police responded. After being checked by police department medics, the girl was determined to be developmentally disabled and was returned safely to her home. Public Safety Officer Kelly’s observance and attention to detail helped mitigate a potentially dangerous situation, and Supervisor Saladino thanked him for always going above and beyond his duties to help keep our community safe.
