Registration Now Open for Loft School of Jazz, a College Prep Program for Young Jazz Musicians!

Registration is now open for The Loft School of Jazz, a program for young musicians who would like to advance their Jazz knowledge and skills.

The School of Jazz classes meet on Saturdays at the Jazz Loft, 275 Christian Avenue in Stony Brook, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“Registration is now open for Loft School of Jazz a college preparatory program for young jazz musicians,” said Loft School of Jazz Assistant Director Chris Donohue. “Talented young musicians have the opportunity to advance their improvisation, ensemble and musicianship skills and broaden their musical horizons with the guidance of an exceptional and devoted faculty at the Jazz Loft.”

Loft School of Jazz classes start September 18. To register visit https://www.thejazzloft.org/loft-school-of-jazz or call 631-751-1895. Rolling admissions also continues into the school year on a case-by-case basis.

In the Jazz program students will develop their collaborative and performance skills with repertoire specifically selected to challenge the group and its individuals. Through Jazz theory curriculum, students acquire understanding of the foundations of music theory and aural skills and achieve greater musical literacy.

“Students also gain valuable experience performing in a variety of ensembles such as small combo groups and a traditional Big Band and get to experience workshops with famous Jazz artists that come through the Jazz Loft to perform,” said Jazz Loft founder Tom Manuel.

Tuition is all inclusive and covers the cost of concerts and tickets to most all events at the Jazz Loft. There are no additional fees or expense required for the year, Incremental payment plans are available. Tuition is $2,500 per student. Need-based financial aid and merit-based scholarships are available to qualified families.
