Rocky Point Middle School eighth graders spent more than a “New York Minute” on their recent field trip to the famed island of Manhattan. The students took a tour steeped in history on their visit to Liberty Island. They also visited the 9/11 Memorial at the site of the World Trade Center and viewed the names of the people engraved around the perimeter of the fountains. The trip also included a visit to One World Observatory with a perfect view of the skyline.

“This was a wonderful opportunity for our students to understand firsthand a small but critical portion of our country’s history,” Principal Dawn Meyers said. “Our hope is that the trip resonates with them and they recognize its significance in our greater world.”
