Public And Private Sector Bring Career Opportunities To Job Fair

The West Islip Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Job Fair at the West Islip Fire Department.  Dozens of local high school students accompanied by their teachers turned out, as did adults looking to start new careers and seniors interested in part-time work.

Representatives from Good Samaritan University Hospital, South Shore University Hospital, the Suffolk County Police Department, United States Military branches, Youth Enrichment Services, the West Islip School District and more were on hand to offer career guidance.

Staff from the Town of Islip’s Personnel Department and representatives from the Town’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs, helped interested parties fill out applications on the spot, and provided insight into the many job opportunities with the Town’s summer camps, pools, beaches and parks.

“We are fortunate here in the Town of Islip to have so many bright and talented individuals interested in employment with our Town. Whether seeking employment in the private or public sector, there was something for everyone at the fair. Special thanks to the West Islip Chamber of Commerce and the West Islip Fire Department for hosting this worthwhile event for our residents,” said Supervisor Angie Carpenter.
