PSEG Long Island recently gave a grant of $5,040 to the Chambers of Commerce of the Moriches to support local businesses, shopping and dining in the downtown areas. The grant funded the purchase of hanging flower baskets that flank Main Street in Center Moriches.

“The flower baskets create a wonderful atmosphere for our Main Street, softening the ‘hardscape’ of a commercial business area.” said Geraldine “Gerry” Sapanaro, president of the Chambers of Commerce of the Moriches. “Several business owners have told me that the flowers have renewed our Main Street with vibrant color. I would like to thank PSEG Long Island for the grant and our own local business owner, Mark Danowski for making it happen.”

The PSEG Long Island Chamber Outdoor Commerce and Beautification grant program was created to support aesthetic enhancements and downtown improvement projects in municipalities. Since 2020, nearly $375,000 has been distributed across Long Island and the Rockaways.
