PSEG Long Island recently gave a grant of $9,089 to the Syosset-Woodbury Chamber of Commerce to fund the creation of a captivating mural celebrating veterans throughout the years. The PSEG Long Island-funded project also included the installation of walking paths, shrubs, and benches, which encourage expanded use of the park located on the corner of Underhill Boulevard and Jackson Avenue, across from the Syosset train station. This is the second grant PSEG Long Island has provided to the Syosset-Woodbury Chamber since 2023.
“PSEG Long Island’s Community THRIVE grants provide community business organizations the ability to finance projects like this one to enhance their local community,” said Veronica Isaac, PSEG Long Island senior manager of Economic Development. “We are hopeful that this beautification project will bring residents out to enjoy this lovely refurbished park and also honor the men and women in the armed services that the compelling and impactful mural embodies.”
“The Syosset-Woodbury Chamber is very appreciative of the grant that PSEG Long Island provided to help beautify Memorial Park, said Russell Green, Chamber president. “The Chamber, working with Splashes of Hope, Gus Scutari, Syosset VFW Post #6394, Home Depot, Lensford Construction, and Preferred Landscaping, was able to put the funds to good use in installing a veteran-themed mural, paving stones, benches, landscaping, and updating the existing infrastructure of the park. The PSEG Long Island Community THRIVE program was created to support aesthetic enhancements and downtown improvement projects in municipalities, and over the last five years, more than $700,000 has been distributed to towns and villages across Long Island and the Rockaways.
