PSEG Long Island employees recently provided area schoolchildren with backpacks filled with school supplies to help them start the new school year off right. More than 125 backpacks were packed with notebooks, loose leaf paper and binders, pencils, pens, crayons and highlighters, folders, glue and pencil sharpeners – items that were donated by PSEG Long Island employees through a collection drive organized by the company’s Outreach Council volunteer group. PSEG Long Island provided the PSEG Long Island-branded backpacks and string bags.
The bags were distributed to children and families at several agencies across PSEG Long Island’s service area, including: the Mary Brennan INN Soup Kitchen and Center for Transformative Change Resource Center in Hempstead, Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Far Rockaway, and the Bellport Hagerman East Patchogue Alliance in Bellport. (A complete list of organizations is below).
PSEG Long Island employees support their neighbors with activities like this throughout the year because, along with providing safe and reliable power, community service is an important part of PSEG Long Island’s culture.
