Members of the Earl L. Vandermeulen High School Leo Club completed their annual “Blizzard Bags” event for the Three Village Meals on Wheels program. The Leo Club, under the advisement of Mr. Brian Chalmers and Miss Ann MacIntyre, conduct several events to raise money and then purchase and assemble the items in December. The Three Village Meals on Wheels program then delivers the Blizzard Bags to local senior citizens who receive its services. Each Blizzard Bag contains four boxed, canned, nonperishable, shelf-stable meals for seniors to have in their home to use when their daily Meals on Wheels delivery is canceled due to poor winter weather.

This year, they received a letter from the Meals on Wheels coordinator, thanking the high school for four decades of supporting the much-appreciated program that helps homebound neighbors.

“The Leo Club members recognize the real need for this program, delivering food to the Three Village Meals on Wheels’ clients is a true community outreach event,” Mr. Chalmers said.
