The Port Jefferson School District continues to build connections among high school students and elementary students and the recent Winter Sports Fair was a great indicator of that.
Fifth grade students visited the high school recently and attended athletic stations for track, basketball and wrestling. The fifth graders participated in the high jump, long jump, shot put, hurdles and sprints with boys and girls varsity track student-athletes and coaches. The students then moved over to the wrestling station where they learned basic wrestling holds under the guidance of the varsity wrestlers and coaches. They then participated in lay-up and shooting drills and contests with the varsity boys and girls basketball team.
