Students in Earl L. Vandermeulen High School’s criminal justice class got a firsthand look at the Suffolk County District Court in Central Islip. The students witnessed the county’s drug prevention program and listened as a judge spoke directly to individuals seeking help. The judge also provided the students with life advice. From there, they experienced the holding cell and sheriff’s lock-up process. Lastly, they witnessed the arraignment process as crimes were read aloud for individual offenders. The trip was organized by teacher Bryan Vaccaro and accompanied by teacher Melissa Zinger.
