The Police Benevolent Association of New York State Law Enforcement (PBA of NYS) supports incumbent Congressman Lee Zeldin, in his reelection bid to continue representing New York State’s 1st Congressional District.
The PBA of NYS Law Enforcement represents New York State University Police, the New York State Environmental Conservation Police, the New York State Park Police, and the New York State Forest Rangers.
Congressman Zeldin accepted the endorsement, acknowledging the work PBA of NYS members perform, including first response and around-the-clock public protection. They serve an important role statewide, but especially in the 1st Congressional district which includes SUNY campuses and several state parks.
“Congressman Zeldin remains a consistent champion for our police – he’s worked to secure funding for bulletproof vests and deliver essential masks and gloves during the height of the coronavirus pandemic. From day one, Congressman Zeldin has stood with our first responders and is the only candidate in this race who has had the courage to stand up as radicals seek to defund the police and attack the integrity of our officers,” said PBA Vice President/CAO & Park Police Sergeants Director Manuel Vilar. “The PBA of NYS proudly endorses incumbent Congressman Zeldin.”
“I am honored to once again receive the endorsement of the New York State PBA,” said Congressman Zeldin. “The brave men and women of the PBA provide an invaluable public service, by ensuring the safety of our families and young college students, while also overseeing the protection of our historic sites and public lands. It is vitally important that we honor the service of all our law enforcement and ensure they have all the resources they need to effectively do their jobs.”
The process for selecting candidates includes face-to-face interviews, questionnaires and other elements such as voting records, bill sponsorship and general support on issues deemed important to PBA of NYS members.
The PBA of New York State is the exclusive bargaining agent for the New York State University (SUNY) Police, the New York State Environmental Conservation Police, the New York State Park Police, and the New York State Forest Rangers. Our members police and protect New York State’s public universities and colleges; state parks and historic sites; and they enforce state laws and protect our lands and forests and ensure environmental safety and quality throughout the state.
