Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter joined with members of Ockers Senior Club to celebrate Dorothy Oliveri’s 90th Birthday!
Dorothy “Dot” Oliveri was born on August 4, 1933 in Mastic, NY. Growing up, she spent her summers at her grandfather’s farm before graduating Center Moriches High School in 1951. Upon graduating, she married Earl Rowland and welcomed two daughters, Diane and Debra; and in 1974, she would marry again to Carl Oliveri, gaining two stepsons Nat and Al, creating a beautiful and loving blended family.
Dorothy began her career at the Brookhaven National Lab as the Supervisor of Mail Distribution, before going on to the Connetquot School District, dedicating over 20 years in the Guidance Department at Oakdale-Bohemia Middle School. An avid gardener, for over 41 years she has volunteered as a member and Master Gardener of the Bayard Cutting Arboretum Horticultural Society.
Dorothy is a proud mother and devoted grandmother, having continued to serve as an adored member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sayville and as a member of the Ockers Senior Club. She loves to travel and stays active through walking and exercise classes.
“Throughout her life, Dot has lived with grace and respect, and over the course of an extraordinary 90 years, has defined a legacy for all who know her to admire. On behalf of the Islip Town Board, we wish you a very Happy Birthday Dot,” said Islip Town Supervisor, Angie Carpenter.
