Northport High School Alumnus Appointed As Principal

The Northport-East Northport Board of Education has appointed Robert Dennis as principal of Northport High School. Mr. Dennis is a lifelong Northport-East Northport resident, having graduated from Northport High School before beginning his 13 year career in education which began as an Italian and Spanish teacher at his alma mater.

Mr. Dennis most recently served as principal of North Shore Middle School for four years. Prior to that role, he held assistant principal and chairperson of world language and ESL positions at the Plainview-Old Bethpage School District. He received his bachelorsdegree in secondary education from Providence University and his masters degree in both romance languages and literature and education from Stony Brook University.

“I am so excited to come home to Northport High School, a building that is the heart of this special community,” Dennis said. “I can’t wait to get started and meet the students, staff and families that make Northport High School a home away from home for so many.”

“Mr. Dennis not only brings a wealth of expertise in secondary education, but a true love of this community,” said Superintendent of Schools Robert Banzer. “During an extensive search, I continued to be impressed with Mr. Dennis’s passion for providing students with opportunities to learn and grow academically, socially and emotionally. We are looking forward to welcoming him home to Northport High School.”

Mr. Dennis currently lives in East Northport with his family, and will be joining the district this August.
