The North Babylon School District has been working hard to support the community during the COVID-19 closure by averaging more than 650 grab-and-go meal bags, creating 1,300 meals a day for any students in need.
The district is also working with Island Harvest and has received more than 40 pallets of nonperishable and perishable food which is used to create grocery bags and then distributed to anyone in the North Babylon community and beyond who are in need. Volunteers come in daily to assist with the distribution of the nearly 200 bags being distributed each day, Monday-Friday.
In addition, the district donated 1,700 gloves, 120 new goggles and four large boxes of comfort items for health care providers and patients at Stony Brook Hospital on April 9.
Thank you to all of those who have been assisting with these efforts.
