Mr. Anthony Davidson Appointed Superintendent Of Schools Of Lindenhurst Union Free School District

The Lindenhurst Union Free School District is pleased to announce that Mr. Anthony Davidson has been appointed as superintendent of schools, effective July 1, 2022.

“With 25 years of experience in education, the Board of Education is confident that Mr. Davidson has the leadership skills, understanding and vision to continue to move the district forward,” said Board President Donna Hochman.

Throughout the tenure of his career, Mr. Davidson has served students at every professional level. He began his career in education as a teacher of English language arts inthe Commack School District and then went on to become the Commack chairperson of English language arts. From there, he held the positions of assistant principal and principal of Commack High School and Commack Middle School, respectively.

In 2018, Mr. Davidson accepted the position of assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction in the Locust Valley Central School District, a role he currently holds. Additionally, Mr. Davidson currently serves as an adjunct professor at the State University of New York at Stony Brook.

Mr. Davidson has enhanced the school communities he’s worked with in myriad ways that demonstrate his leadership, such as the expansion of the career exploration program in Locust Valley CSD to include externships, nearly tripling the number of dual-enrollment opportunities; creating, staffing and overseeing the district’s K-6 remote learning academy; leading the K-5 implementation and grade 6 exploration of the Teacher College Readers and Writers Program Framework; initiating and guiding the expansion of special education services to include integrated co-teaching in Locust Valley; andsupervising the creation and design of curricula in serving as the IB Head of School in Commack for the first Middle Years Program on Long Island and one of the Largest in North America.

“Throughout the search process, the more I learned about Lindenhurst, the more enamored I became,” said Mr. Davidson. “I’ve learned that the people of Lindenhurst surround and support each other and have great pride in their town and schools. I am grateful for the confidence and commitment the Board has extended to me and am excited for the opportunity to lead in a community where people genuinely care about and demonstrate a commitment to each other and to making their district the best it can be for
all children. I look forward to many years together as we build upon the long-standing
tradition of excellence in Lindenhurst.” 

Mr. Davidson has been honored with a number of professional recognitions, including the Commack Middle School Teacher of the Year, PTA Advocate-in-Action Award and Long Island BOCES Fred Podolski Leadership and Innovation Award. He has also presented at several American Middle Level Education National Conferences, as well as the Long Island Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development Annual Conference and the Long Island Technology Summit.

When not working, Mr. Davidson and his fiancé spend their time shuttling their children to their sports games and enjoying being outdoors with the family’s rescue dog Sammy, at the beach or on the slopes.
