Harborfields High School marching band and kickline recently upheld the rich school tradition of overnight band camps with a three-day learning and bonding experience at LIU Post. Nearly 100 students – comprising the largest team in the school – worked together to create the perfect balance between large-scale field choreography and music.
Working under the leadership of Marching Band Director Allison Scilla, Assistant Directors Dan Bilawsky and Joe Hinton and Kickline Director Jackie Best, the students learned their field show for the music of Bruno Mars, fine-tuned their playing and closed out the camp with a demo performance for friends and family.
“It’s always so exciting to bring the marching band community together like this,” Scilla said. “The students absorb and grow so much in such a short period of time, transforming from a group of individuals into a single cohesive unit. They truly put their best foot forward at the demo performance, giving their collective all, and now we’re looking forward to everything we have ahead of us this season!”
