Residents across Long Island will join Americans nationwide on Sunday, June 14, 2026, to celebrate Flag Day, commemorating the adoption of the United States flag by the Continental Congress on June 14, 1777.
Communities throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties are expected to mark the occasion with ceremonies, patriotic displays, and educational programs honoring the Stars and Stripes and the ideals it represents. Flag Day serves as an opportunity to recognize the nation’s history, honor veterans and active-duty service members, and reflect on the freedoms enjoyed by all Americans.
Long Islanders are encouraged to display the American flag at their homes and businesses proudly and to participate in local observances celebrating this enduring symbol of unity, liberty, and national pride.
As the nation approaches its 250th anniversary, Flag Day offers a meaningful reminder of the values that continue to unite Americans and strengthen communities across Long Island and beyond.
