Local Cub Scouts Swim At The Suffolk Y-JCC On Super Bowl Sunday

On February 11, 68 Cub Scouts from the Matinecock Scouting District gathered at the Suffolk Youth Jewish Community Center in Commack, where they enjoyed a very Super Sunday. The 6-year old Tiger Cubs through 10-year old Webelos Scouts experienced two hours of aquatics fun while they enjoyed the opportunity to earn some of the requirements for aquatics badges, received swimming lessons, played pool games and raced their homemade boats constructed from recycled bottles.  They were all under the supervision of certified Boy Scouts of America Lifeguards Alex Ortiz (District Executive for Benjamin Tallmadge Scouting District), and Amanda Grimaldi (a Baiting Hollow Boy Scout Camp Lifeguard).

The next swim event will be held on March 17, 3-5 pm, and is open to all Matinecock District Boy Scouts to earn partial Swimming Merit Badge requirements, participate in swimming competitions, as well as having a “free time swim” in the pool. They will be supervised by BSA Lifeguards Alex Ortiz, Amanda Grimaldi and by Troop 125 Life Scout Wyatt B.
